Here we go again
This is my house last Friday morning, just after 10" of snow. Sunday night we got 4 more. This evening I'll get to escape some of this when I fly to Washington. But wait...
Chicago is now under a winter storm warning beginning at 6 PM tonight. Another 9-12" of snow is expected tonight and tomorrow. Coincidentally, my flight is scheduled to depart at 6. I hate winter.
Update 6:15 PM: The plane is loading. Blog at ya from DC.

Sorry to admit it, but I'm rather enjoying this. It's like a return to normal winter after six or seven years of drought. I wonder where my cross country skis are...
You grew up in New England and you hate winter? I thought folks from up there just took it in stride. ;D
Maybe you can make it out just before the big storm hits. I once flew from Seattle to Denver just ahead of a huge storm; the plane I was on was the last to land in Denver for two days. It can happen, you can get out! Good luck, and bon voyage.
I love your house, snow and all. It makes me want to cuddle up near the fire.
I hope you get out okay...we wouldn't want you to miss the Smithsonian.

I really DID think about you boys while watching the weather news in Chicago the other night and all the cancellations. Either you're in DC, or you are buried so deep you can't open the door to..... to....dare I say it? SHOVEL SOME MORE SNOW! SORRY.....these kind of winters DO go on TOO long.
So why don't you leave the frozen north and move to the Tucson area? Sounds like you like it here! This is my first winter without snow and I'm really liking it! Fun to see the pictures of it though! BTW, whining ALWAYS helps!
